Whether a patient needs to reschedule or the office needs to change the schedule, occasionally you will need to move an appointment that is already scheduled to a new date, time, and/or operatory.
Note: Moving appointments requires the "Appointments, Edit" security right.
To move an appointment
The quickest way to move an appointment to a new time and/or operatory on the same date is to drag the appointment. Do the following:
Drag the appointment to an open time slot on the schedule.
A confirmation message appears.
Click Yes.
If applicable, do one of the following:
If the Password - Appointments, Edit dialog box appears, user verification has been assigned to the "Appointments, Edit" task. Do one of the following:
If your user account has been granted the "Appointments, Edit" security right, enter your credentials in the User ID and Password boxes, and then click OK.
If your user account has not been granted the "Appointments, Edit" security right, have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can edit the appointment this one time. The overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.
If a message appears, informing you that you do not have rights to this operation, your user account has not been granted the "Appointments, Edit" security right. To have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can edit the appointment this one time, do the following:
On the message, click Yes.
In the Password - Appointments, Edit dialog box, the overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.
To use the Pinboard to move an appointment to a new time and/or operatory on a different date, do the following:
Move the appointment to the Pinboard.
Navigate to a different date.
Drag the appointment icon to an open time slot on the schedule.
A confirmation message appears.
Click Yes.
If applicable, do one of the following:
If the Password - Appointments, Edit dialog box appears, user verification has been assigned to the "Appointments, Edit" task. Do one of the following:
If your user account has been granted the "Appointments, Edit" security right, enter your credentials in the User ID and Password boxes, and then click OK.
If your user account has not been granted the "Appointments, Edit" security right, have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can edit the appointment this one time. The overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.

If you know the exact date, time, and/or operatory that you want to move an appointment to, to specify the new date, time, and/or operatory of that appointment manually, do the following:
Double-click the appointment.
Note: If the current Appointment Book view includes operatories for multiple clinics, you can open the appointment only if the appointment was scheduled in an operatory of the clinic that has been assigned to the current view.
If applicable, do one of the following:
If the Password - Appointments, Edit dialog box appears, user verification has been assigned to the "Appointments, Edit" task. Do one of the following:
If your user account has been granted the "Appointments, Edit" security right, enter your credentials in the User ID and Password boxes, and then click OK.

The Appointment Information dialog box appears.
Change any of the following as needed:
Op - To specify a different operatory, do one of the following:
Enter an operatory ID in the box.
To use the operatory selector, do the following:
Click the search button .
The Select Operatory dialog box appears and displays a list of the operatories that are assigned to the view currently being used in Appointment Book..
Under Operatories in, by default, the View option is selected, so the operatories that are assigned to the view currently being used in Appointment Book appear in the list. To view the operatories that are associated with the clinic that is assigned to the view currently being used in Appointment Book, select the Clinic option.
Note: If the current Appointment Book view includes operatories for multiple clinics, depending on a certain organization setting, you may be able to move the appointment only to an operatory of the clinic that has been assigned to the current view.
From the list, select the correct operatory.
Note: If the operatory is not listed, to add it to the clinic (whose ID appears in the box near the bottom of the dialog box), click Add new Ops to open the Operatory Information dialog box.
After you enter the operatory's information and click OK, you are returned to the Select Operatory dialog box. Then, select the newly-added operatory from the list.
Click Select.
Note: This button is available only if an operatory is selected.
Date - To specify a different date, do one of the following:
Enter a date in the box in a mm/dd/yyyy format.
To use the date selector, do the following:
Click the search button .
The Select Date dialog box appears.
Select the correct date.
Click OK.
Time - To specify a different time, do one of the following:
Enter a time in the box.
Note: You can enter a time using various formats. For example, you can type 8a, 8am, or 8 AM; 1p, 1pm, or 1 PM; 8:30a, 8:30am, or 8:30 AM; or 1:30p, 1:30pm, or 1:30 PM.
To use the time selector, do the following:
Click the search button .
The Select Time dialog box appears.
Do any of the following:
Drag the slider left or right to decrease or increase the time.
Click the left arrow button to decrease the time one appointment unit at a time (the length is determined by the clinic's time block size).
Click the right arrow button to increase the time one appointment unit at a time (the length is determined by the clinic's time block size).
Click between the slider and the left arrow to decrease the time one hour at a time.
Click between the slider and the right arrow to increase the time one hour at a time.
Click OK.
Click OK.
